The California-Mexico Studies Center (CMSC), along with current and previous California-Mexico Dreamers Study Abroad Program participants, will have the honor to participate in Gregorio Luke's special presentation on "The Plight of the Immigrant" at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California, Tomorrow, Friday July 28, 2017.

This presentation is in honor of John F. Kennedy's Centennial Celebration, and will also benefit  Casa de la Familia (CDLF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing mental health services to children and families in Southern California.

If you are an undocumented student with or without DACA, and you would like to attend this presentation, register with us and we will offer a complimentary entry.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

The California-Mexico Studies Center, in collaboration with El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF), will be hosting the 2nd International Seminar on Migration and Public Policy on August 17-19, 2017 at COLEF's main campus in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

The seminar will be held as part of COLEF's 35th anniversary celebration of its founding. Also, the seminar will focus on issues relating to the current situation of Dreamers on both sides of the border, the migration of close to 1 million U.S.-citizen minors forced into exile in Mexico and Central America with their deported parents, as well as the tragedy of separated families and deported U.S. military veterans.

Award winning actress, writer and producer, Yareli Arizmendi is best known for her tour de force performances as "Rosaura" in "Like Water for Chocolate" and "Lila Rodriguez" in "A Day Without a Mexican" which she co-wrote and co-produced.

Her latest television project is a series called Gentefied directed by Marcus Lemus, executive produced by America Ferrera dealing with the issue of Gentrification. Recent films include "Urban Cowboy" directed by Craig Brewer, "Beyond Paradise" directed by J. Jonroy, "América" by Sonia Fritz with Eddie Olmos, and "Don't Let Me Drown" by Cruz Angeles.

She has starred in numerous American episodic shows beginning with NYPD Blue, all the way up to "House", "Medium", "24", "Six Feet Under," and "Heroes." She has lent her voice to public awareness campaigns and audio books including The Alchemist, Like Water for Chocolate, The Law of Love and MALINCHE.
