Policy Roundtable: Dreamers and U.S. citizen children exiled in Mexico and Central America

On Monday April 25, 2016, Congressman Alan Lowenthal will host a Policy Roundtable and Community Forum on Dreamers and U.S. Citizen Children exiled in Mexico and Central America to address the fact that over 700,000 U.S citizen children live in limbo in Mexico and Central America due to their parents’ deportations from the U.S.

This forum is intended to educate and inform members of Congress and the California State Legislature about this critical issue that has not been recognized by policymaker and the media. In fact, these are U.S. citizen minors forced into a form of exile, in violation of their constitutional, children’s and human rights since they have been forced to leave their homeland upon their parents’ deportation.

This event is also aimed at creating a sense of awareness and post-election discussion among the public and elected officials, on the need for a humane path towards immigration reform.

The Policy Roundtable and Community Forum on Dreamers and U.S. Citizen Children exiled in Mexico and Central America is envisioned as a prelude to a congressional hearing by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to be proposed by Congressman Lowenthal next year.
