On Saturday July 15,  all 35 DACA participants (30 are women) of the Summer 2017 California-Mexico Dreamers Study Abroad Program came together to attend the last program orientation before departing to Mexico on August 1st. The CMD Summer 2017 program, is the first time that the CMSC accepted students from 8 different states other than California, including students from New York, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and Washington.

As you may recall from our newsletter publications, the CMD Summer 2017 program will take place at the prestigious Mexican graduate school El Colegio de la Frontera Norte  (COLEF) in Tijuana, Baja California from August 1st to the 21st.

During the 3-week travel-study experience, the participating Dreamers will have the opportunity to engage in a graduate-level course, conduct independent travel and ethnographic research on their family origins, allowing Dreamers to visit their birthplace, as well as the opportunity to participate and present their findings at an international conference on Migration and Immigration Reform to be held at COLEF from August 17-19, 2017.

CSULB Theater Art students teamed up with the Summer 2017 California-Mexico Dreamers' group to facilitate and lead a bonding activity, as part of a project by the CMSC to develop a play about Dreamers' human stories. Having such a diverse group of  DACA students from many different universities across the U.S., it was important to create a strong physical bond as they embark on the CMD Summer 2017 Dreamers Study Abroad journey!
