Dear Profe,

I am writing this letter to express my immense gratitude to you and the entire CMSC staff for
allowing me to participate in the CMSC Summer 2021 Dreamers’ Study Abroad Program. This
program was a life changing experience that allowed me to experience mi México lindo y
querido for the first time since I had left it when I was five years old. I was able to spend time
with family that I had only ever known through pictures and phone calls. It also gave me the
opportunity to meet and spend time with other empowering Dreamers.

Most importantly, and as an example of how crucial DACA Advance Parole is, I was able to
apply for adjustment of status soon after coming back. The legal entry was my only obstacle to
this opportunity since marrying my US citizen husband in June 2020 and filing our family petition
soon after. Through your advocacy and creation of this program, you provided me, and others,
the perfect opportunity and eliminated my fear of having to consular process to complete the
journey. I am happy to share that my application was approved and I became a US Legal
Permanent Resident on March 1, 2022, less than a year after this unforgettable experience.

Personally, I have continued to work as an Immigrants’ Rights Senior Paralegal at Centro Legal
de la Raza in Oakland, CA where we provide free immigration legal services and provide
representation to a large number of clients facing deportation proceedings. I am moving along
my journey to become an immigration attorney to continue providing vital legal services to our
undocumented community. Representation matters in the legal field, and I have learned it is
important for clients to work with someone they can relate to in their immigration journey.
Therefore, I am delighted to share that I have accepted my admission to the JD Flex Program at
Golden Gate University School of Law for the Fall 2022 entering class with a full-tuition
scholarship!

This is only the beginning for me, but I hope to continue paying it back to our immigrant
community and show my immense gratitude to you and the CMSC team. ¡La lucha sigue!

In solidarity,

Nallely Romayor Reynoso
