CETLALIC Update

Over 35-years-ago, Jorge Torres Viveros set to create a school, an environment where people can come together and exchange culture, language and ideas of Latin American Solidarity. In Cuernavaca, Morelos, the CETLALIC Institute was established, teaching thousands of students from the US, Canada and Europe. The California Mexico Studies Center (CMSC), through Prfoessor Armando Vazquez-Ramos has taken hundreds of students from his CSULB Chicano Studies classes to CETLALIC. Dreamers, and Chicano students alike, were given the opportunity to cross borders, explore their identity, and reconnect with their roots in Mexico.
Nearly a month after the passing of CETLALIC Director, Jorge Torres Viveros; CETLALIC is operating strong; with the support of its staff, host families and donors and supports from abroad. In fact, Professor Sue Kasun, just returned from CETLALIC with her Georgia State University students. Sue was happy to report back that classes are still running with the same passion and detail as their leader, Jorge would expect from the CETLALIC team.  Jorge's work lives on in all of us.
Consider making a donation to CETLALIC to support their work, and Jorge's legacy.  Jorge Torres Viveros, Presente!
